Licensed behavioral health professionals collaborating in your care
At the Center for Spine & Joint, we believe in caring for the whole patient through the mind/body approach. We know that people can experience pain physically, emotionally, socially, spiritually and intellectually. Pain can inhibit a normal productive life and can limit a patient’s ability to concentrate, participate in a job, physical activities and the enjoyment of social interactions. A mind/body consultation is a critical component for the comprehensive treatment of a patient’s pain. The pain assessment helps to increase the understanding of the impact that pain has on all aspects of one’s life. Therefore, part of our goal is to provide the patient with social support and vocational rehabilitation. Our behavioral therapist offer treatment in the Nashville, TN area with locations in Hermitage, Murfreesboro and Nashville, TN.
Nancy Achuff, LCSW
Nancy Achuff is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker at Center for Spine & Joint. She has 17 years of experience working with mental health, addictions, sexual abuse and trauma. Nancy has worked in a variety of settings from school based programs, alcohol and drug rehabilitation, private practice, outpatient counseling as well as wellness programs offering health coaching.
Ms. Achuff’s approach to counseling is “meeting people where they are.” Most people fear attending counseling for fear someone is going to tell them what to do. That is not what behavior health is all about. Helping people use healthy coping skills, teaching relaxation techniques, and building a positive self esteem are the focus of most sessions. Ms. Achuff is EMDR Level II trained which is helpful for trauma victims and removing negative beliefs about oneself. Nancy uses these skills to assist individuals with chronic pain as a comprehensive solution to provide effective treatment for those suffering from physical conditions, providing emotional and psychological relief.
Ms. Achuff received her undergraduate degree from Middle Tennessee State University and her graduate degree from University of Tennessee. The majority of Ms. Achuff’s clinical work has been with sexual abuse and chemical dependency. She is married with three girls. She and her family enjoys their two cats, camping and Titan’s football.
